Northwest Vietnam Enduro Tour in 8 days

After breakfast at the hotel, the guide will wait for you in the lobby, then take you to the bike parking lot by taxi. We will depart on the motorcycle at 8.15 am.

It might be a bit challenging but surely exciting right from the beginning.

Our very first challenge will be to snake through the busy streets of Hanoi. It may look intimidating at first but surely it’s the best way to explore the city.

After leaving Hanoi, we get on off-the-beaten-track paths through the jungles, rivers, and streams. We get to our homestay which is just nearby a dreamy waterfall and the rest of the day is all yours. You can relax by swimming in the cool water of the waterfall in the National Reserve Park and have such a rewarding feeling after a tough day.

A night spent at the cozy homestay situated in a pleasant landscape will help you regain energy and enthusiasm while waking up in nature with vividly green color around and listening to the chirping sound of birds everywhere. A great sense of tranquility and enthusiasm will inspire you for a day of adventure and take new challenges.

We start the second day of the northwest Vietnam tour on the motorbike with the first 50km of dirt and mud.

After having lunch in Mai Chau, a stupendous valley which is home to the White Thai ethnic people, we continue our riding along the National Highway No.6, an abandoned road that used to be the main track in the ’80s and then head to the Da river area.

We will stay overnight in Moc Chau plateau, known as the homeland of the tea plantations and flowers in northern Vietnam.

The third day in our eight-day motorbike tour to the northwest region of Vietnam will be an exciting day with lots of fun memories and experience.

After breakfast, we have a short tour around the scenic Moc Chau, you will have the chance to explore the beautiful nature of this famous plateau before getting into the track. You will soon get excited and exhilarated when having the opportunity to drive in various types of terrains and roads: gravel stone, mud, sheer cliffs, deep abyss. We then have a more relaxing time by visiting some remote villages of Black Hmong ethnic people with overwhelmingly picturesque landscapes.

We call it a day when the sun goes down at the top of the fog-covered hill, then have a rest and spend the night in Bac Yen town after an active day.

During our eight days of this tour, the fourth day is when we will have the most dirt roads, so today will be the toughest and most challenging. Fine weather will make our journey much easier as some 90 km out of the total 135 km is dirt road.

Though challenging and nerve-racking, sometimes, the journey will definitely leave a strong and fond impression on you as it takes you through various tribal villages of such ethnic minority groups as Tay, Dao, H’Mong that can hardly be found if you had traveled the other way.

The dangerous and slippery road with streams, steep slopes with mud and gravel will be a common sight in this track.

We have a picnic-styled lunch on the route to Bac Yen town and continue our tour in the afternoon.

We make it to Muong La district, spend the night here and relax after an adventurous day. We highly recommend tourists to enjoy hot spring bath in Ngoc Chien hot water spring, located some 1,600 meters above the sea level, known as a major attraction for tourists in Son La province.

Today is another challenging yet fulfilling day for motorbike fans as the tracks will be very tough and difficult with slippery and steep slopes. Meanwhile, most of the journey will be on dirt roads; therefore, this will be a challenge even for intermediate riders.

Along the way, we will also ride through greenish jungles, encounter steep slopes as well as long and deep streams. Wild, isolated, tranquil, rough, thrilling are those words we describe the trip on the fifth day and truly rewarding experience is what we are blessed with when we join this journey.

Unlike the fifth day of the tour, today will be a rather easy and relaxing day. Our ride will be full of grandiose sceneries, awesome gravel roads and bending pleasant tracks. Along the way, we will make some stops in order to catch incredible moments and beautiful scenes. The temperature will be changing quite suddenly when we ride to O Quy Ho, the highest pass in Vietnam which connects Lai Chau province and Lao Cai province, so be prepared for this interesting change.

We get to Sapa at noon and will explore the town in the afternoon. The town is among the most famous and most-visited places in the northwest of Vietnam that stands at the top of a deep valley of magnificent rice terraced fields.

Though touristy and crowded in high season, Sapa is a charming town that has many things on offer for tourists. You can wander through the rice terraced fields which are at their splendid best in September and October, enjoy local food, visit the jaw-dropping valleys or trek to the top of O Quy Ho pass to get a panoramic view over the lush green, dense forest and spectacular misty-cloaked mountain ranges.

Bidding farewell with this impressive town, we ride along the muddy track to head to Pho Lu. We then follow the National Highway No.70 to Thac Ba lake, a beautiful hydroelectric reservoir in the north of Vietnam.

After an active day with some 40km dirt road out of 240km on the bike, we get to the homestay which has a great view over Thac Ba lake.

We spend the last day of the eight-day motorbike tour to Northwest Vietnam to travel from Thac Ba Lake area back to Hanoi city.

After enjoying the hearty breakfast at our homestay, we say goodbye with our friendly and warm-hearted host. We follow the National Highway 2 to the peaceful town of Phu Tho, riding all along the dike of the Red River to the place where the river meets the Black River before arriving in Hanoi before rush hour.
