After having a fully decked breakfast, you head to the gathering place and leave bustling Hanoi for the northeast direction. We will follow the dike road to get a more exciting ride. This 60km long road is a bit meandering and bumpy, but it offers a great view of the Vietnamese countryside. After 2 hours of riding on the dike road, keep challenging your riding skills on the winding roads to reach Vu Linh village. Vu Linh is one of the largest and most famous villages of the Dzao people, located near Thac Ba lake. The lake has a large area of 23,000 ha, 10 km wide, 80 km long, and 42 m deep. There are more than 1,300 large and small islands on the lake. Each island is covered with lush trees and clear green water, creating an extremely splendid setting.
If you have enough time, don't forget to take a boat trip on the lake to get closer to the diverse ecosystem here. Surrounding the lake are houses of many ethnic groups, including the Dao, Tay, Nung, Thai, Muong, and Giay, so this is also a great way to explore the unique culture of the local people. We will finish the first day of the journey in a peaceful village nearby Thac Bac Lake. Enjoy dinner and overnight at the homestay to regain energy for the next part of the tour.
