About DT702 road – the most beautiful road in Vietnam connecting Phan Rang – Cam Ranh

The road DT702 has just been upgraded in the last 2 years to become more modern. It was a rough and challenging stone road in the past, so Binh Tien beach, Binh Hung island, Vinh Hy Bay, etc were not so popular with tourists until recent years. With a length of 65 km, the DT702 road covers the whole area of Nui Chua National Park, the home of multiple faunas and floras.

The upgrading process really brings the popularity of the road DT702 to a whole new height under the name of the most beautiful coastal road in Vietnam. All the words such as paradise, the legendary Vietnam motorbike route,.. are not enough to express the real beauty of this road. Come admire this road and the surrounding areas, and you are sure not to be able to leave.

Top spectacular views that should not be missed in the Phan Rang – Cam Ranh trip

A dreamy land in Vietnam is metaphorically called “Windy like Phan Rang- Sunny like Cam Ranh”. But, what you admire in the trip is completely different from that quote. Once you’ve set foot on this land, everything from the sea breeze, waves, blue sky, and golden sandy beaches to the bright smiles of the locals are all comfy and cozy. Driving along Phan Rang – Cam Ranh coastal road on the road DT702, you will totally be surprised by tons of peaceful bays, shining pristine beaches, and more. Here are the best ones:

Nai lagoon

Nai lagoon

Right after you ride your motorbike out of Phan Rang city, you will cross Nai lagoon in the Ninh Hai district. The lagoon is a typical dry coastal tropical lagoon that belongs to the top 12 coastal lagoons in Vietnam.

The lagoon is the cozy home to endless migratory birds, possessing a relatively rich ecosystem of flora and fauna. Also, it is an important place for many fishermen and salt farmers to earn a living. Coming to Nai lagoon, tourists will not only immerse themselves in the breathtaking natural scenery but also have the chance to explore and learn more about the peaceful countryside life along the mystic lagoon.

Rai Cave

Rai Cave

Located in the South of Vinh Hy Bay, Rai cave is one of the most popular landmarks in the short journey to discover Phan Rang-Cam Ranh. Here, in Thai, An hamlet, Vinh Hai commune, Vinh Hy, people found a lot of otters used to live here in groups.

With a pristine beauty that can not be found anywhere else, Rai Cave is such an endless inspiration to passionate adventurers, photography enthusiasts, or those who have a real interest in throwing fishing rods. Located about 35 km from Phan Rang city, this amazing place is like a true “paradise” that rarely possesses impressive natural sceneries that bewilders everyone even on their first arrival here.

Hon Do (Honeycomb rock beach)

Hon Do (Honeycomb rock beach)

Everything you see in Rai Cave is just a small part of the honeycomb rock beach. To reach the Red Islet, you will have to cross through tons of fields planting garlic, and chilis, then run on the sand for about 1 kilometer. The rock beach is quite large with fine white sand, poplar forest, and limestone layers dating back millions of years, enduring corrosion from wind and seawater. And, it makes you feel like overcoming the whole space is an impossible duty.

The most interesting experience is coming here at high tide when the strong waves hit hard on the rocky beach, creating an extremely spectacular sight. In particular, at Hon Do, a sacred Cham temple was built during the years of the resistance war against the French near the road DT702 and the coastal village My Hiep.

More importantly, Hon Do is one of two places in Ninh Thuan with traces of ancient Sa Huynh culture. Therefore, this place is completely ideal for tourists to join many activities to experience like camping, fishing, and watching the sea at night.

Vinh Hy Bay

Vinh Hy Bay

Located right in the northeast of Ninh Thuan, about 40 kilometers from Phan Rang city, Vinh Hy Bay is adjacent right to Nui Chua National Park. This place, with many wild charming sceneries, is truly bestowed by nature. Beautiful and majestic. This tourist hotspot is such a glorious water painting of white sand surrounding and an ideal destination for travelers who are interested in exploring poetic natural scenery.

Clear-blue sea rippling small waves create soft silk fluttering. You and your fellow drivers can eat delicious seafood cooked by the locals on the raft, and take a boat tour to the coral reef. All are interesting!

Binh Hung Island

Binh Hung Island

Traversing on this DT702 road, tourists will also sightsee the pristine and romantic Binh Hung Island, which is very close to the mainland. This is one of the favorite choices for many backpackers and explorers since it only takes 10 minutes to visit the wonderful island by boat.

With the wild and pristine scenery, Binh Hung is deemed as an “unpolished” pearl in sea tourism destinations in Vietnam. Also, you don’t need to be a billionaire to travel to this attractive place since everything here is cheap, from seafood to full service.

Sweet Water Beach

Sweet Water Beach

Welcome to an extremely beautiful beach like a miniature paradise on your Vietnam motorbike route on the road DT702. The pure white sand beach, along with turquoise seawater flowing inside, is a cool stream from the Lord mountain that is so interesting to discover. The road to arrive at the beach is not challenging at all, and even cars can also enter. However, it takes a lot of attention to find the right way. Standing in the middle of the mountain, you will have to say Wow for the romantic beach.

Binh Tien Beach

Binh Tien Beach

Starting off from Phan Rang along Highway 1A, crossing a 10-km small asphalt road, tourists will discover Binh Tien beach right in front of their eyes with a wild, peaceful, and calm look.

With sandy beaches stretching far away and calm small waves, Binh Tien beach is perfect for visitors to soak right in the emerald ocean. Lush green forests and rocky mountains surround the three sides of Binh Tien beach.  Listening to small waves rushing to the shore with soft and soothing sounds is like the melodious sound of the young princess hiding in the ocean and surrounded by green stone soldiers and muscular white stones in weird and mysterious shapes.

Binh Lap village – Binh Chau beach

Binh Lap village - Binh Chau beach

The road to Binh Lap village will attract you at first sight. Sloping curves around the pass and multiple coves make the whole area such a charming feng shui picture. In Binh Lap village, you will visit Binh Chau beach, too, which will make any visitor ready to jump into the bath on soft sand and soft sand. Until now, Binh Chau Beach is still a magnificent and deserted hotspot with its beauty hidden inside.

The sea barrier

Following the Ninh Chu Bay Resort section, you will finally find a very cool sea embankment. The embankment has a length of only 3 km. However, driving on this path is such a great experience. The best time for visitors to go on this route is at sunrise towards Vinh Hy and sunset towards Ninh Chu. Forget about the busy city life of an adult. You just need to stop by, take a deep breath, and let all the worries go in front of the sea to feel the peace inside your soul. That’s great!

Po Klong Garai tower

Po Klong Garai tower

Po Klong Garai tower, the most stunning Cham tower complex in Ninh Thuan left, is considered the symbol of Cham civilization. Built-in the late 13th and early 14th centuries, this precious relic, with the pinnacle of construction architecture and sculpture, attracts countless tourists to come and explore it every year. You will embark on Phu Ha crossroads, then follow the road 21/8 to get here.

The architecture of Po Klong Garai Cham Tower consists of 3 main towers, the main tower, the fire tower, and the gate tower with unique structures. Most of these towers are made from bricks, and dark red is stuck with otters.

With its excellent beauty, today, the tower still plays an important role in celebrating the traditional festivals of the Cham people in Ninh Thuan. Moreover, it is a mark to promote tourism development in Ninh Thuan. In 1979, the Ministry of Culture and Information recognized the Po Klong Garai tower as a National Cultural and Historic Site.

How did we discover Phan Rang – Cam Ranh route?

Well, I have never thought that I would travel to the sunny central coast of Vietnam. But, luck pushed me to this paradise-land land on a summer day in mid-April when the atmosphere covering the whole country in general and Saigon, in particular, became terribly hot. However, choosing a Vietnam motorbike route from Phan Rang to Cam Ranh is such a great decision, and we regretted why we didn’t come there sooner.

If you are new to a Vietnam motorbike tour and the route of Phan Rang to Cam Ranh, I hope that reading my sharings about our trip will benefit your upcoming trip. At least you will know how to move among different destinations here. Exploring the coastal road from Phan Rang to Cam Ranh via the road DT702 is such a great experience in the S-shaped country.

Start off from the road DT702

Start off from the road DT702 in Cam Ranh

We started off from the road DT702 in the early morning after having a delicious breakfast. The road was quite flat at first, but only after running a few more kilometers did our Vietnam motorbike route start to become winding and steep. A few streams across the road here mingled with the ocean at the intersection between saltwater and freshwater.

Here, you could see a lot of camps where the local people cultivated aquaculture. The higher the convoy was, the higher the sea level appeared. The scenery here was totally jaw-dropping, with mountains embracing the sea, the sea gently nestled into the mountains, creating lots of dreamy bays, beaches, and scenic scenes. Poetic and spectacular. I could not find any better word to describe the beauty of this land.

Stop by Binh Hung beach

Stop by Binh Hung beach

We stopped by Binh Hung beach to enjoy seafood, swim, and relax. The seafood here was also fresh, abundant, and sold at a relatively “soft” price, so we did try a lot. The beach was full of pure white sand shining under the sunshine, the water was as clear as jade. Sightseeing waves rolling softly on the shore, we really immersed ourselves in the sea for a while. Then, we resumed our coastal journey from Binh Hung to Phan Rang.

To be honest, the route took us a lot of time because the whole group stopped a lot to take photos at almost every place we went through. However, under the sunshine, the beautiful scenery here was out of control, and we could not hold ourselves back in front of the natural beauty.

Throughout this journey, I often saw small bays, deep seawater in the mountains, and a couple of fishing boats anchored. The water is so clear that we even see the bottom while riding on our motorbike from a far distance. There were also stretches of green forest stretching out to the sea, surrounded by the blue color of the sea, dotted with white rocks. The beautiful picture created by nature made us hard to believe that we were traveling in Vietnam or just dreaming.

Contemplate Vinh Hy Bay

Contemplate Vinh Hy Bay

Because we did not have much time, we almost had the chance to look around Vinh Hy Bay from above. Standing on the road DT702, we peacefully sighted the pristine Vinh Hy Bay in the afternoon sun, multiple ships anchored in the bay, white sand stretching under the shady coconut trees like a water painting in Ninh Thuan province.

From Vinh Hy Bay, we traversed 7 km more to Rai Cave, whose name sounded very strange to amateur tourists like me. I asked a local person about the cave’s name, and the story was quite interesting. There were a lot of otters living here in the past, so that’s why Rai cave was named after the legend.

Although the experience was not the same as in my imagination, the beauty of this rocky cave was also quite attractive to me. You can see this giant stone muzzle in many pics taken by many photographers when searching the route on the Internet. Especially, there were also lots of couples coming here to take photos before their marriage. Rai Cave is also the ideal place for that.

Go back to Phan Rang

Go back to Phan Rang

Leaving Rai cave, we continued the journey back to Phan Rang. This section is not too close to observing the sea from high places. I almost forgot about others in the crew when immersing myself in the beauty of the sea and the extremely bustling scenes. There were the flocks of sheep and goats gnawing on the grass, a wide range of garlic fields, and grape fields sprouting buds. I gradually felt the fragrant smell of salt fields on the way. Wow! What the smell of the sea! And, in my opinion, it is such a beautiful image of the local people working hard even in the fields or the sea. We did have many interesting experiences and were full of emotions when coming here to prove that this is the land of “Golden forest, silver sea”.

Wrap it up

If you are a traveling and exploration lover and always feel interested in the wild beauty of the sunny and windy homeland roads, you should surely not miss a Vietnam motorbike tour from Phan Rang to Cam Ranh. Compared to other crowded beaches in Nha Trang or Mui Ne, Phan Rang and Cam Ranh’s landscapes are perfect with their wild, pristine, and peaceful sceneries. You will surely love the beautiful sandy beaches, the poetic natural scenery, and the dangerous roads. Now, it’s time to start an exciting journey on Vietnam’s most beautiful coastal road.
