PuLuong - Mai Chau - Ha Noi Tour

Highlights

Only a few hours riding west of Hanoi lies the peaceful valleys of Mai Chau – Pu Luong, where green rice paddies hugs solemn karst mountains. This area is perfect for you if you only have a few days to explore the vast nature of Northern Vietnam. Experience the daily lives of ethnic minority people with a night in a traditional house on stilts on this Mai Chau motorbike tour.

Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau (170 km; 6 hours)

We’ll start out at 8 am, tearing away from the busy morning traffic via narrow and small country roads. After lunch, we’ll hug National Highway 6 for an enjoyable ride: a small and winding road along the Black River. We’ll ride pass Thung Khe pass, one of the most beautiful passes in Northern Vietnam, and breeze downhills to the snug White Thai ethnic settlement in the middle of Mai Chau valley. We’ll spend the night with the people here, in their characteristic stilt houses.

Day 2: Mai Chau - Pu Luong (170 km; 6 hours)

After breakfast, we’ll bid farewell to our Thai hosts, and continue on our journey to Pu Luong.
We have choices for you here. We can take the shorter and easier route through rolling hills to Ma river, and follow the river banks across villages and farmlands, where locals turn bamboo into beautiful chopsticks and other handcrafted products. We’ll ride on through Pu Luong nature reserve, towards our destination for the day at a Muong ethnic village.
Or we can opt for a longer stretch of road that managed to stay off the conventional maps and guides and take some time to ride off-road through this magnificent forest-draped mountains. This route, however, requires a bit of skills and experience from you.

Homestay with local Muong family

Day 3: Pu Luong - Hanoi (170 km; 6 hours)

After breakfast and some sight seeing, we’ll bid farewell to this land of pristine nature and set off for Hanoi.
On the way back, we can take a short detour of 20 km off-road ride through quiet, closed off back-roads for a little added sense of adventure.
